Nyumbani means “At Home” in Kiswahili, and this is the feeling we would like to extend to our guests. Twelve self-contained apartments provide quality and comfort for couples, families and groups of friends, offering a perfect self-catering base for your Zanzibar holiday.
Located on the outskirts of Jambiani, Nyumbani Residence is situated in a great location with a three-minute walk to one of Zanzibar’s best beaches, which invites you to relax or explore. Take a long walk on the beach, discover Jambiani and the coastline up to the bustling village of Paje, or try your hand at a range of water sports activities offered nearby.

Each of Nyumbani’s apartments is fitted with a fully equipped kitchen which includes a fridge freezer, microwave, cooker, cooking utensils, plates, cutlery and more to ensure you can cook delicious meals from the comfort of your home.
A welcome basket containing coffee, tea and other essentials are provided upon your arrival. Once settled in, several shops nearby sell fresh and dried produce and friendly staff at Nyumbani will be happy to advise you on the best places to source anything you need.

In Nyumbani villas you will find everything you need. The villas are surrounded by lush vegetation, everything is well-kept, you can relax by the pool or on the intimate terrace of your villa behind a wall of plants. In the morning, simple fresh breakfasts and squeezed juices are served in a homely atmosphere – everyone will find something for themselves. Paola is a treasure trove of knowledge about Zanzibar and its attractions and Fatuma, always smiling, was always ready to explain and advise everything. The place is very safe, a few minutes’ walk from the beach – there is a family atmosphere and a balance between commercial Zanzibar and the bustle of the streets. -

The accommodation is really hard to fault, satisfaction from the moment we arrived – the owner was very nice, she explained everything, showed us…there was no problem, the breakfast was sufficient. 2x swimming pools in the area and the rooms had their privacy thanks to the mature greenery, amazing peace at night. The accommodation is about a 5-minute walk to a nice beach with several restaurants. -

An oasis of calm and tranquility, two pools and lots of areas to relax in and around the gardens. Very helpful and happy staff. The apartment was spacious with a kitchen and spacious veranda. Beach was 5 mins walk with lots of bars and restaurants on the beach. -

“Coming home to a green oasis (& cats)” – January 2025
During our 4.5 weeks stay in Zanzibar we booked twice (first time 7, second time 6 nights) the 2-bedroom bungalow in the beautiful green oasis of Paola & Danielle (& their 7 cats 😻). We loved not only the privacy and comfort of the bungalow but it also always felt like coming home :). Although the East Coast of Zanzibar is facing regular power outages we never had an issue at Nyumbani due to their own generator. Nyumbani Residence is not only very well suited for a trip with friends but also families and couples. A big thanks goes out to the super warm and welcoming staff, too. We can’t wait to come back to escape the German winter again. Asante sana 💚! -
