Nyumbani means “At Home” in Kiswahili, and this is the feeling we would like to extend to our guests. Twelve self-contained apartments provide quality and comfort for couples, families and groups of friends, offering a perfect self-catering base for your Zanzibar holiday.
Located on the outskirts of Jambiani, Nyumbani Residence is situated in a great location with a three-minute walk to one of Zanzibar’s best beaches, which invites you to relax or explore. Each of Nyumbani’s apartments is fitted with a fully equipped kitchen which includes a fridge freezer, microwave, cooker, cooking utensils, plates, cutlery and more to ensure you can cook delicious meals from the comfort of your home.
A welcome basket containing coffee, tea and other essentials are provided upon your arrival. Once settled in, several shops nearby sell fresh and dried produce and friendly staff at Nyumbani will be happy to advise you on the best places to source anything you need.

“A tropical oasis!” – July 2025
A tropical oasis! We absolutely loved our stay here, Paola, Fatuma and the rest of the team are so lovely and welcoming. Our room was fantastic, really spacious, comfortable and clean. A great location with only a few minutes to walk to the beach where bars and restaurants are nearby. There are 2 pools and the landscaping gives it a real jungle feel. We really hope to return here in the future and would highly recommend!

Really great from start to finish!! Paola is very friendly and accommodating. Very quiet. Access to the beach in 5 minutes via a pleasant little path. Plenty of restaurants on the beach. Rich breakfast and very good! 2 swimming pools, both equally good
And unlike other hotels, you can swim at the beach whatever the tide. There is still a stretch of beach and there are no rocks in the water.

The staff is fantastic, they resolve everything quickly, and Paola gives tons of tips and recommendations for visiting Zanzibar.
The fact that they are independent apartments with their own kitchen and terrace gives you the freedom to cook your own meals.

The staff is friendly and helpful. Well located, 200 meters from the beach and close to the center of Jambiani.
The houses are well-appointed with mosquito nets on the windows and beds.
Two swimming pools with lounge chairs for relaxing in a lush garden, very well-maintained by the gardener.
Paola is very helpful and friendly.

Our stay in Zanzibar was wonderful. The biggest thanks goes to Paola and Daniele who, with their smile and kindness, made us feel at home. They have created a little paradise in beautiful Zanzibar. Spotlessly clean, well-equipped rooms with fan and air conditioning. Everything is taken care of down to the smallest detail in the wonderful Zanzibari style.
Exceptional breakfast. Friendly staff always ready to solve even the slightest problem. Swimming pool and garden with attention to the smallest details adorned with a riot of colorful flowers. A few steps from the beach. What to say? Just heartfelt thanks to Paola, Daniele and all the staff of this fantastic resort for pampering us during our stay.

“…relaxing, perfect for a family holiday.” – July 2025
We stayed at Nyumbani Residence Apartments for 5 nights and absolutely loved it. The vibe is peaceful and relaxing, perfect for a family holiday. Our 2-bedroom apartment came with a basic kitchen – ideal for simple meals, and the property felt very safe with 24/7 security. They gave us a voucher which gave us 10% off the local restaurants, this was a nice touch. There is no restaurant in the hotel but they offer breakfast. The location is excellent: just a 2-minute walk down a small path to the beach (with great restaurants nearby), and a 5-minute stroll to the local market. The pool was super clean and well-maintained. Breakfast was continental with a rotating daily “special,” which was a lovely touch. The staff even sprayed the room each evening for mosquitoes (though we had no real issues). A really comfortable and convenient stay, we’d happily return.
